How Do Our Products Work Together?

Skin care systems aren’t new: for decades, three-step routines ruled the industry. We all dutifully cleansed, toned, and moisturized. But the entire experience left many of us wondering, is using these products together really better for my skin?

Today, most people cobble together their routines from a number of brands, convinced that using one system really doesn’t make a difference. Sound familiar? We’re here to change your mind: our OneSkin longevity system has been carefully formulated and scientifically proven to work together to prevent aging at the cellular level–from head to toe. Not convinced? Let us guide you through the science that makes us certain that our system is different.

01Step 01: PREP Optimizes the Absorption & Effects of the OS-01 peptide in our OS-01 Topical Supplements

When we set out to create our first cleanser, we knew it had to do more than just remove impurities. That’s why we packed PREP with gentle exfoliators that clear away dead skin cells and help your skin absorb whatever you apply next. Once we had a formula that we liked, we put it to the test in the OneSkin lab to see if cleansing with PREP truly enhanced the benefits of OS-01 FACE. The results were clear.

Cleansing skin with PREP before applying OS-01 FACE doubles the absorption of the OS-01 peptide 01

By comparing the amount of the OS-01 peptide present in the dermis layer of ex vivo skin samples after treatment with OS-01 FACE, our scientists found that the OS-01 peptide absorbs 2.2 times more effectively when skin is pre-cleansed with PREP versus not pre-cleansed. This means that using PREP prior to OS-01 FACE could more than double the peptide penetration. With a higher peptide concentration in the deeper layers of your skin, you should experience enhanced effects from using OS-01 FACE.

Shown by comparing the amount of the OS-01 peptide present in the dermis layer of ex vivo human skin samples exposed to OS-01 FACE and pre-cleansed with PREP versus not pre-cleansed at all.

Cleansing skin with PREP enhances the hydration effects of OS-01 FACE 01

By measuring the activity of a key gene associated with skin hydration (AQP3) in ex vivo skin before and after treatment, our scientists found that using PREP in combination with OS-01 FACE improved AQP3 activity by 40%, versus using OS-01 FACE alone. This means that by using PREP before OS-01 FACE, your skin is even better equipped to maintain optimal hydration than when using OS-01 FACE alone.

Shown by comparing the activity of a key biomarker associated with skin hydration (AQP3) before and after treatment in 46-year-old ex vivo human skin samples with PREP+ OS-01 FACE vs OS-01 FACE alone.

02Step 02: OS-01 EYE Improves Collagen & Decreases Aging Around the Eyes

Most skin care systems don’t include eye cream. Considering that the skin around your eyes actually ages faster than the skin on the rest of your face, it’s a big miss.(1) To combat accelerated aging around the eyes, we created an eye cream that’s far more potent than the industry standard. Formulated with the highest concentration of the OS-01 peptide, OS-01 EYE was created to specifically address the needs of delicate eye area skin.

Just like we did with PREP, we tested OS-01 EYE in the lab to ensure that it works to address the root causes of accelerated skin aging. Our research showed the following skin changes.

OS-01 EYE doubles collagen levels in the dermis layer 01

By measuring collagen levels in ex vivo human eyelid samples, we found that OS-01 EYE improves collagen levels by 2.3x in the dermis, the middle layer of the skin that makes up to 90% of skin’s thickness.(2) By improving collagen in this structural skin layer, OS-01 EYE helps the thin skin around the eyes resist accelerated signs of age-related collagen loss, including wrinkles and skin sagging.

Shown in ex vivo human eyelid skin samples from a 70 yo male donor, by measuring collagen levels in the dermis before (Control) and after treatment with OS-01 EYE. Data measured in triplicate and normalized to control. The collagen density was determined by quantifying Masson's Trichrome staining.

OS-01 EYE decreases biomarkers associated with inflammation, aging, and senescence 01

Studies have shown that the skin around the eyes shows increased levels of a biomarker called CDKN2A, which is associated with aging and cellular senescence.(3)

In our tests, OS-01 EYE was proven to reduce that exact marker–CDKN2A– in ex vivo human skin samples. Plus, OS-01 EYE reduces IL-8, another marker associated with increased levels of inflammation, one of the 12 hallmarks of aging.

Shown in ex vivo human eyelid skin (42, 59, and 84 yo) before and after treatment with OS-01 EYE, analyzed/ for expression of key aging and senescence biomarker (CDKN2A) and inflammation biomarker (IL-8).

By improving skin health at the cellular level, OS-01 EYE results in visible skin changes around the eyes, including:

  • Improved overall appearance (Shown in 5% of users) 02
  • Improved skin elasticity (Shown in 85% of users) 02
  • Improved hydration (Avg improvement of +24%) 02
  • Skin barrier (Avg improvement of +17%) 02

03Step 03: OS-01 FACE Increases Epidermal Thickness & Supports Collagen

At the heart of any complete skin system is a quality moisturizer. But our flagship product, OS-01 FACE, is so much more than just a skin hydrator. It’s formulated to address signs of aging on areas most vulnerable to sun damage – the face, neck, and hands.

When your skin is exposed to UV radiation, it activates enzymes called matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), which break down collagen and other structural proteins located in the dermal layer. As MMPs increase, collagen levels decrease and the skin begins to show telltale signs of aging like wrinkles, sagging, and dryness.(4) Sun exposure also damages the outermost layer of the skin, the epidermis, and causes extensive DNA and cellular damage at this level.

To ensure that OS-01 FACE addressed these common signs of aging, we put it to the test in the lab. Our results showed that OS-01 FACE addresses multiple signs of UV-related aging at the cellular level.

OS-01 FACE increases epidermal thickness 01

Epidermal thickness analysis of ex vivo skin samples (35, 55 and 79 yo) maintained in basal media, or treated with OS-01 FACE for 5 days. (Zonari, et al., 2023)

OS-01 FACE supports collagen biosynthesis pathways and cellular proliferation 01

To further validate the impact of OS-01 FACE on collagen production, our team analyzed whether it increased a key collagen production marker, COL1A1. The data provided a clear result. In a lab study examining the dermis of ex vivo human skin samples, we found that topical treatment with OS-01 FACE significantly increased COL1A1. It also increased a key marker associated with cell proliferation, MKI67.01 This data indicates that OS-01 can support the creation of more collagen-producing cells, which likely contributes to an overall increase in collagen production.

Shown in ex vivo human skin samples (35, 55, and 79 yo) topically treated with OS-01 FACE, then analyzed for expression of key collagen production biomarker (COL1A1) and cell proliferation biomarker (MKI67). (Zonari, et al., 2023)

By improving collagen & epidermal thickness in skin that’s vulnerable to sun damage, OS-01 FACE results in visible improvements, including:

  • Improved skin smoothness & overall appearance (Shown in 100% of user) 02
  • Improved skin evenness, radiance, pores, & firmness (shown in 95.5% of users) 02
  • Improved skin elasticity (Shown in 90% of users) 02
  • Diminished appearance of fine lines & wrinkles (Shown in 87% of users) 02

04Step 04: OS-01 BODY Increases Epidermal Thickness and Reduces Skin Crepiness

Most skin systems completely ignore the skin below your neck. But our bodies contain 97% of our skin! In order to address whole-body skin longevity, our system includes OS-01 BODY, our Topical Supplement designed to improve the health of our largest vital organ.

As we get older, our epidermis begins to thin. One study found that it thins at a rate of about 5-7% per decade.(5) This can lead to common signs of aging on the body, including crepiness and skin laxity. To guarantee that OS-01 BODY improved these common signs of aging, we analyzed whether it could increase epidermal thickness in the lab.

OS-01 BODY is scientifically proven to increase skin’s epidermal thickness 01

Compared to skin that was not treated, ex vivo human skin samples treated with OS-01 BODY showed up to a 40% increase in epidermal thickness.01 This improved skin thickness leads to a reduced appearance of crepey skin and the improved feeling of skin hydration.03

Epidermal thickness analysis of ex vivo skin sample from a 44 year old donor measured before and after treatment with OS-01 BODY. Data measured in triplicate and normalized to control.
