SKIN SCIENCE
Have you ever wondered, "What should I add to my skin care routine?" The truth is, the majority of skincare products out there lack scientific backing. In fact, most skin care companies formulate their products in partnership with third-party manufacturers that rarely test the efficacy of their formulas. At OneSkin, we got our start as a scientific research company dedicated to testing the effects of popular anti-aging products at the cellular level. What we discovered was shocking: most anti-aging products don’t actually work to reverse skin aging. And some even make things worse. That’s why we set out to do things differently–creating face and body skin care products backed by real scientific evidence and proven to reverse skin aging at the cellular level. The result is our collection of Topical Supplements, first-of-their-kind innovations backed by longevity research.

What is a Topical Supplement?

You take a multivitamin every day to keep your body healthy for years to come. We think of our products in much the same way. That’s why we decided to name them Topical Supplements. Packed with our OS-01 peptide and everything your skin needs for peak longevity, our formulas are more than just skin care–they’re designed to support whole-body health starting with your largest organ (your skin!).

What makes OS-01 different from other skin care actives?

Unlike other active skin care ingredients, OS-01 is proven to reverse skin aging at the cellular level, as shown in ex vivo human skin samples.* Our research on OS-01 goes far beyond what most skin care companies do. In fact, our research was recently published in npj Aging, a prestigious scientific journal. So how does OS-01 stack up against common skin care ingredients? To find out, we put OS-01 in a head-to-head test with retinol, a form of vitamin A that’s commonly considered the gold standard of anti-aging ingredients. In our tests, both OS-01 and retinol significantly increased a key biomarker associated with collagen production, COL1A1. However, only retinol also created a tenfold activity increase in a biomarker linked to aging, CDKN2A.* This shows that while retinol improves collagen production, it may increase other signs of skin aging – not what you want in an anti-aging product! You can learn more about how retinol stacks up against OS-01 here.

How does OS-01 reverse aging on the cellular level?

OS-01 reverses skin aging by targeting cellular senescence*, a root cause of systemic aging. Over time and with increasing environmental exposure, our cells experience DNA damage. As this damage accumulates, they enter a state of dysfunction called senescence. Often called “zombie cells,” senescent cells secrete biochemical signals called SASP that drive healthy neighboring cells into senescence. As more senescent cells accumulate, your skin experiences accelerated skin aging, including visible signs like wrinkles, loss of elasticity and firmness, crepiness, and thinning. OS-01 boosts DNA damage repair in early-stage senescent cells, preventing them from entering late-stage senescence and secreting SASP.* This stops the spread of senescence and reduces your skin’s biological age at the cellular level. The result? Healthier skin that looks, feels, and acts like younger skin for longer.
