Split Face Study to Evaluate the Effects of OS-01 FACE and the OS-01 Peptide

A third-party research organization with no affiliation to OneSkin conducted a 12-week split-face double-blind clinical study to evaluate the effects of OS-01 FACE and the OS-01 peptide, which has been published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology.

The Findings

OS-01 FACE significantly improves skin barrier function, texture, and radiance, and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Participants also perceived improvements in skin hydration, smoothness, radiance, and overall appearance.

SPLIT-FACE

The study isolated the effect of the OS-01 Peptide™ using a split-face design

Participants applied OS-01 FACE to one side of their face and an identical formulation without the peptide (termed the “vehicle” formulation) to the other. With this approach, it would be clear that any improvements between each side were a direct result of the OS-01 peptide.

Given that OS-01 FACE is packed with bioactive ingredients that have their own benefits, comparing it against an identical, peptide-free version really put OS-01 in the spotlight. This method isn’t something you see every day in the skin care industry, making our study not only rigorous, but also quite unique.

DOUBLE-BLIND

The study eliminated human bias

To minimize bias, our study was double-blinded, meaning that neither the researchers nor the participants knew which side of their face received the OS-01 formula, and which got the lookalike without the peptide.

Methods of Analysis

Three methods of analysis

1. Instrumental analysis:

Vapometer to max-w-narrow skin barrier function
Antera 3D to max-w-narrow skin texture and wrinkles
VISIA imaging software to max-w-narrow skin radiance

2. Expert clinical grade evaluation: Blinded experts (who don’t know which areas of the skin received OS-01 FACE or the vehicle formulation) grade high resolution images of participants’ skin before and after treatment

3. Self-perception questionnaire: Participants report the effects they observed before and after treatmentInstrumental analyses were used whenever possible, which unlike expert clinical evaluation and self-perception offer completely objective results. Of course, some results can’t be measured and the way people feel about their skin matters too. That’s why we included expert analysis and personal perception results as well.

By comparing improvements between skin treated withOS-01 FACEversus the vehicle formulation, the investigators found that the OS-01 peptide:

Significantly improves skin texture
