What is the density shift?

Senescent cells release SASP (senescence-associated secretory phenotype), a group of inflammatory molecules that actively break down collagen¹ and elastin,⁴ and impair the production of barrier proteins.³ They also increase free radicals, which degrade hyaluronic acid^6,7—and because hyaluronic acid is an antioxidant that protects against cellular stress, losing it pushes even more cells into senescence.⁸

At the same time, the cells responsible for producing collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid in the dermis—called fibroblasts—become senescent themselves, reducing their ability to replenish what's being lost.⁷ Skin simultaneously loses its structure faster and rebuilds it at a slower pace.

Why don't traditional rich creams solve chronic dehydration?

Our scientists treated ex vivo human skin samples with OS-01 FACE RICH CREAM for five days and measured key biomarkers associated with the production of collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid, and barrier proteins.

What did the clinical study find?

A 12-week, third-party, double-blind clinical study evaluated the effects of OS-01 FACE RICH CREAM in 29 female participants ages 43–65 with mild to moderate facial skin sagging, firming, contouring, nasolabial folds, and expression lines.

Participants applied OS-01 FACE RICH CREAM twice daily to their face and neck. Barrier strength and hydration were measured with instrumental devices (Corneometer, TEWL measurement), while radiance, texture, and hydration were evaluated visually and tactilely by expert clinical graders. Participants also provided subjective assessments via a self-reported questionnaire.

What do the results look like?

The bottom line

Chronic dehydration and a loss of firmness in your 30s and 40s aren't a sign that you need a heavier cream.
