Why Make Deeper Tints?
We designed OS-01 FACE SPF to be more than a sunscreen you wear at the beach. It was created as a daily treatment that shields skin from UV damage while targeting long-term skin aging from multiple angles.
But performance means little if it doesn’t suit your skin. While we launched OS-01 FACE SPF with a tinted option, a third of our deeper-skinned users said it wasn’t a good match for their skin tone.
Inclusivity in SPF Formulation Matters
The lack of easily blendable tinted SPF options for darker skin tones has contributed to much lower adoption of daily sunscreen use among these populations.[1]
While darker skin does contain higher levels of melanin, and can thus protect against some sun damage, melanin cannot block UVA rays, blue light, or environmental pollutants—all of which can cause pigmentation issues and speed up skin aging.[1]
Skin doesn’t need to burn to show signs of aging, either. The daily low-level solar radiation we experience can silently contribute to visual signs like wrinkles or hyperpigmentation.
