The entire concept of senescence was not well known when I did my degree in molecular biology in college. To me, this concept is fascinating. That’s what sparked my excitement and enthusiasm for OneSkin.

01 How do you view aging and longevity?
“Aging is a mixture of increasing wisdom as well as decreasing vitality. I think as a doctor you have a really good view of the natural aging process and how hard it is. Because of that, I have a lot of motivation to stay as physically active and healthy as I can. To enjoy my time and not have so much discomfort as I age.

02 Have you always been interested in longevity?
“I have always been interested in preventive medicine, but I am relatively new to the science of aging. 03 Do you have longevity hacks?
For me the big things are exercise, sleep, and controlling my blood sugar. I had three kids in a five-and-a-half-year period and I gained a lot of weight during each pregnancy. Controlling my blood sugar, sleep, and exercise were really helpful in that regard, to reset myself metabolically.”

04 If you could go back in time and talk to your younger self, what advice would you give yourself in terms of longevity?
I never thought that stress was such an important thing, and I spent a lot of my teens and 20s being stressed. I feel like it has been hard to get over the go-go-go mindset that drove me for so long. It's hard to reset your brain away from that. And the other thing is that I really had no appreciation for exercise. I’ve never liked sports and never enjoyed exercise growing up. I didn't appreciate it until much later in life. The thing that motivates me to exercise now is that it really helps my stress. It took me decades to figure that out, but I find now that if I exercise, I’m just in a better mood, so I do it more often. I didn't realize how good exercise made me feel until I did it consistently. It wasn’t until I started running 5 to 6 times a week, that I was like ‘oh, this is not hard, it’s actually fun, and I feel good’.”

05 What is the most common advice you give to your patients when they come to you about aging?
I think focusing on metabolic health is one of the most important things that people can do. I think it’s very easy as we age to slowly gain weight and to kind of accept increasing metabolic derangement like higher blood sugar, higher cholesterol, and extra weight around the middle. So that’s probably the thing I counsel my patients on most frequently- be mindful of any small changes in your blood sugar and cholesterol and take them very seriously. They might be small problems now, but they are a big problem down the road in terms of vitality and what makes people feel good as they age.”

06 What was the primary reason why you started using OneSkin?
“I felt like I was beginning to see signs of aging on my skin, from things like the appearance of sunspots, which through pregnancy, became much more of a thing. Even beyond the spots, I felt that my skin was changing in a visibly negative way - thinner and less youthful. The interesting thing for me was that since I started using OS-01, the brown spots significantly faded, and one is completely gone. My skin also feels and looks a little bit fuller. Quite a few people have said, ‘I think you look younger’.
